Our Digital & Physical Commitment
At The Pink Door, we believe that hospitality begins long before you walk through our doors. We are dedicated to providing a digital experience that is accessible to the widest possible audience and a physical environment that is transparent about its historic character.
Navigating Our Digital Doorway
We strive to ensure our website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Level AA). Our goal is to make our online home easy to navigate for everyone, including those using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technologies. We utilize dynamic typography (rem) and a color palette carefully selected to meet contrast requirements for legibility across all devices.
Our Historic Location & Physical Access
The Pink Door is located within a historical district in the heart of Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Due to the age of our building and its protected status, our facilities are grandfathered into their original architectural design, which presents unique challenges:
●
Entry via Stairs: Our restaurant is currently only accessible via a flight of stairs at our primary entrance.
●
Elevator Infrastructure: At this time, the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) has not provided elevator or lift access to our specific level. Consequently, we do not have a lift or elevator available for guest use.
We recognize that these physical constraints may limit access for some members of our community. We sincerely apologize for these limitations and remain committed to working with our landlords to advocate for future improvements.
We Welcome Your Feedback
Accessibility is an ongoing journey of improvement. If you encounter any barriers on our website, or if you have questions regarding physical access before your visit, please reach out to us. We are happy to provide any information or reasonable accommodations within our reach.
